This was a really great episode. My favorite episodes are the ones where Horace talks about other companies. It helps me understand Apple more. It gives more insight into how Apple is different. I would love an episode on Microsoft's current structure and strategy. Also WalMart.

I've been thinking about long term consequences and how it will start effecting life insurance companies. They started expanding their client base back in the sixties with the baby boomers and soon those promised benefits will be coming due big time. Seems like it could be described as a very long term ponzi scheme that is now running out of new clients.

Here in Canada, Manulife’s insurance sales fell to $143 million a drop of 23% over last year’s quarter and year-to-date sales are down by 58%. Group benefits appear to be a major source of the lost revenues — when group benefits are removed from the results, insurance sales are up by 5% for the quarter.

Down south, U.S. insurance sales dropped by 19% compared to Q3 2013 and year-to-date insurance sales are down by 19%.
