I agree with your statements at the end of your iPad discussion more than the ones at the beginning! :-) Many people in the media seem to think that it is important for the iPad to meet or exceed the success of the iPhone. I hope nobody at Apple worries about that.
Let me put it this way: who expects any other tech company to exceed what Apple did with the iPhone? Nobody says Lenovo or Xiaomi are falling apart or in decline because they can't come up with a new product category that matches the success of the iPhone.
